History

The School of Business and Economics’ history started, under its first Dean, CPA Jorge Bolio Castellanos’ guidance, with that of the Anahuac Mayab University on August 29, 1984 with an offering of two of the university’s first four undergraduate degrees. The first programs were: Public Accounting and Business Administration. A year later, Hotel and Restaurant Management was offered. Since then, the Business school has been the Anahuac Mayab’s vexillum, enrolling the highest percentage of students and offering the highest percentage of academic programs and degrees. Much of this success is due to the great leadership and vision our past deans have imparted: C.P.(A.) Rodolfo Martínez, Rey David Álvarex del Castillo, C.P.(A. Mario Arturo López Cámara, Luis Achurra Fernández, Dr. Leonardo Alfonso Verduzco Dávila, Enrique Antonio Omaña Nájero (interim), Bernardo Cisneros Buenfil, and the current dean, C.P.(A.) Manuel Evia Puerto. In addition, in line with expanding our educational scope, the Business School began offering its first Graduate Programs in August 1992 with a Graduate Diploma in Management and on in Marketing. Two years later, in September 1994, the Business School began offering Anahuac Mayab University’s first Masters Degree in Upper Management, coordinated with Anáhuac del Norte University. In 1999, undergraduate degrees in Marketing and International Business were added to the school’s offering. A doctorate in Socio-Economic Management was first offered in 2001. A new study quarterly study plan geared toward students working full-time was added in 2003.
